Way back at the start of the season, Oklahoma State was a plucky 100-1 longshot to hoist College Football’s sweetest prize in January 2016. After the first nine games of the season? They’re just 20-1.Here’s a look at the favorites.Alabama: 5-2Ohio State: 5-2Clemson: 9-2Baylor: 16-1Florida: 16-1Notre Dame: 16-1Stanford: 16-1Oklahoma: 20-1Oklahoma State: 20-1Iowa: 25-1LSU: 25-1That’s pretty sweet to look at, isn’t it?A friend of the blog (who shall not be named) jumped in back in August and has some real dough riding on these last few weeks.Friend of the blog sent this baby in today. Might want to hold on to that one. Hoooo boy! pic.twitter.com/uNCFHH8uGb— Pistols Firing (@pistolsguys) November 10, 2015Nate Silver’s statistical site, 538, says Oklahoma State has a 97 percent chance of making the playoff if it wins out in this really intriguing article. And an undefeated power conference team like Oklahoma State shouldn’t fret, even if it is currently outside the committee’s top four. Some of the teams ranked in front of it are almost certain to lose — and even if they don’t, there’s a good chance Oklahoma State will leapfrog some one-loss teams if it keeps winning. That 538 article, by the way, reminded me of just how far we have to go. The Playoff talk is fun right now, but at Iowa State and then Baylor and OU in Stillwater is no joke. That three-game stretch is probably as difficult (if not more so) than the nine games that came before it. The Playoff is within reach, yes, but it still feels like a long way away.If you’re looking for the comments section, it has moved to our forum, The Chamber.
